View On Black Good Morning my friends, It’s ironic that I would post this image last, in my….Image %26 Word set. Most of the writings are my original work, all but perhaps just three including this one, “Me and Mrs. Jones”. It will be one year to the day on March 4 that I created Mrs. Jones and she is my favorite of all my Orchid creations. Her real name is Highland Monarch, from the Genius Masdevallia. Masdevallia’s are from the cloud forests of Central America, primarily Ecuador Peru and the Northern parts of Colombia. They thrive in the higher elevations of rich moist cooler air and steady air circulation. Along with the Genius Masdevallia Is a little known genius, Dracula and before better results with DND sequencing Dracula’s were in the Masdevallia genius. I consider myself very lucky to have understood their needs and grow them in my home, and although I will be giving them all away soon to prepare for my Hiking of the Appalachian Trail, they will hold a place in my memories and my heart forever. The Flower of my Mrs. Jones creation is huge and really yellow, she is off centered to the left, and I am to the right…..REALLY! What I did was hit the saturation just a bit to boost the colors and lighting to prepare it for the next step. Then like I have done with a lot of my other darker work I crank the contrast and hit it with gamma. As I was working with this, she transformed into a very sensual and gorgeous, Le féminin de la fleur. (The Feminine of the flower). This might sound silly but it made my heart race, and the title….. “Me and Mrs. Jones” popped into my head instantly…. Best seen large. This is my first attempt at creating a 3D image at night, and using a subject thats moving – in this case, a working fountain. I used a longer shutter speed to blur the water. This is the so-called "Gene Pool" (*groan*) and thats the Beckman Institute in the background. During daylight, its possible to see the tiling inside the fountain, which is laid out to mimic the double helix of DNA. Sure, its nerdy, but its Caltech. For most people, the best way to see the 3-D effect is the view both images above large. Sitting fairly close to the screen, cross your eyes until you see three images. You might have to adjust your focus back and forth a bit but the middle image should eventually pop into view as 3D.

Over the past ten years of my career, I have worked on The Modern Faerie Tale books, The Spiderwick Chronicles, and The Good Neighbors, three series dealing with faeries and folklore. But the dozen stories that make up my first collection, THE POISON EATERS AND OTHER STORIES, gave me a chance to write about lots of the other things Im interested in. Contained within THE POISON EATERS are stories of a vampire girl named Matilda who stops herself from drinking blood by drinking booze; of Elienad, a werewolf boy who is kept like a dog by his father; of Nikki, a girl living in a trailer park, who challenges the devil to a competitive eating contest; as well as one story set in the Modern Faerie Tale world, where Roiben walks into a coffee shop and is drawn into a past he thought hed long left behind.They were so much fun to write and I hope they are equally fun to read. This is a second shot of the Daily Planet as it is being built. I know it doesnt look like I got very far. Well I did. I am building the inner structure as well and trying to put some desks inside, so when you look inside it looks like an office. My other problem is I am running out of the kinds of pieces I want to use, and I need to go shopping on Bricklink. Thank you to Gary who has helped me out with figuring out how I am going to do the "Globe" that will go on top of the structure. I am estimating 4 stories at this point, and there is going to be action! Yes, I made the following minifigs, (which I will photograph when I get home). Clark Kent, Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen, Perry White, and a Lex Luthor. I have a cop too and of course Superman in action. The scene will be this. Lois will be dangling from a flag pole, while Lex Luthor is on the look out for Superman because he used Lois as bait. Superman will be flying in to save the day, Jimmy will be taking pictures, a cop will be talking to Lois using a mega phone, and Clark will be spinning in the Phonebooth around the corner. The scene is almost cubist if you think about it. Okay, onward and upward.

Legendary Wendy Wild is the one who first introduced me to Club 57. Wendy was one of a kind! A mad performer bringing cheer to all around her. One of the first original ones in the 80s East Village, NYC. Always ready to jump on the stage, she was there... at Club 57, the original Pyramid Club, performing with John Sex, the thirteen all girl band Pulsallama, the great psychedelia band The Mad Violets, Das Furlines, a stunning performer at the annual Wigstock and so much more. - Please View Large - Dolores Fuller (1923-) is the now legendary former leading lady of the early 1950s B-pictures of Hollywood film director Edward D Wood Jr (1924-1978). Eddie Wood never got a true break in Hollywoods mainstream film industry; but between 1953 %26 1960, he directed 6 films - horror, sci-fi and thriller themes- that reveal an artistry and utterly unique vision, to those more perceptive viewers who can look beyond the restraints of budget. Dolores Fuller fell in love with Wood and starred in 3 of his motion pictures: Glen or Glenda (US 1953); Jail Bait (US 1954) and Bride of The Monster (US 1955) - but by 1956, with Woods devastating wartime scars and disappointments in Hollywood resulting in alcoholism, Dolores felt that she had to pull away. As a model and bit actress on television she had been supporting him financially - and trying to keep him off the bottle- since they had met. While continuing to appear in small roles in films (including an effective emotional scene in Playgirl, US 1954; with Shelley Winters) and on television (including parts in Superman %26 Dragnet), Dolores Fuller followed her even more natural talent of song-writing - going on to write 18 hit songs for Elvis Presley; and in the 1960s and 1970s to managing future singing stars such as Johnny Rivers and Tanya Tucker. By 1980, two years after Edward D Wood Jr had died tragically in abject poverty, ironically in Hollywood, the ignored director received posthumous fame and cult status - as his films wre rediscovered by film critics who wrote books deriding his efforts to bring his ideas to the screen. So too at this time, the limelight fell on his surviving stars and players - including the beautiful Dolores Fuller. Tim Burtons affectionate biopic 14 years later only increased the interest in this multi-talented lady - who to this day exhudes the Hollywood glamour that eludes contemporary stars. She was in demand on screen; for interviews in documentaries about Ed Wood Jr: The Incredibly Strange Film Show (1988); Look Back In Angora (1994) %26 The Haunted World of Edward D Wood Jr (1996). Ever since the mid -1980s artist (%26 B-movie afficianado) Stephen B Whatley had hoped to locate Ms Fuller, to express his admiration; and in 1996, his research led him to reach her in Las Vegas, NV, to where he sent a cartoon tribute he had created (top left; inspired by her appeareance in a 1994 interview). Thrilled, Dolores Fuller kept in touch, so kindly sending photographs; and then after she had received another cartoon surprise from the artist in 2003, she wrote asking permission to publish it in her recently published memoirs, A Fuller Life: Hollywood, Ed Wood %26 Me ( Bearmanor Media Books) Lower right of the compilation picture above is the colour tribute, owned by Ms Fuller, which has been published in black %26 white on a full page; below which the star writes touchingly that "my friend...neatly captures my career with this cartoon" Shown here above the cartoon, is the 1995 photograph that inspired the central latterday likeness. Dolores Fullers autobiography ( assisted by author Stone Wallace %26 her devoted husband Philip Chamberlin) is a powerful and fascinating read, punctuated with great humour - about a lady determined to follow her dreams, to succeed with her talent; charting the highs and lows in both her professional and personal life. Lavishly illustrated with many great black %26 white photographs, the book reveals a passionate beauty, married several times; who charmed several famous men- including Johnny Carson and Frank Sinatra. She writes of the tragic lives of her Eddie Wood, her late dearest friend actress Mona McKinnon (who starred in Plan 9 From Outer Space (US 1956)) %26 the tragic loss of her younger son- with great tenderness (...that is so evident in her eyes, to anyone who has watched her latterday interviews on film %26 television); before ending on a high note - her dream of getting the musical she has been writing, Ed Wood...But I wouldnt on to Broadway; hopefully with Johnny Depp as lead. Frank, Jean and you all know my Dad... Uncle Frank was at the shallow end, personality wise. He looked just like his father. I really dont know how my Aunt Jean managed to come out looking OK. We dont know how Dad got saddled with the name Selwyn (Sy) it is a Welsh name and nobody in the family is Welsh. But that being said; I found an Old Irish rule for names; 1st son was named after the fathers father. 2nd son was named after the mothers father.
