He enlisted in Company B 11th Illinois Cavalry in August, 1861 and served until October 1865, when he was honorably discharged.
He came to Kansas in 1868 and settled on the farm southeast of Lyndon. He afterward moved to Chautauqua county, where he resided until about two years ago when he returned to the farm upon which he died.
He leaves two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Sarah Henry and Thomas French, who made their home with the deceased, Mrs. J. W. Core of Eskridge and Henry, of Chautauqua county all of whom were present at the funeral.
A short service was held at the home at noon on Tuesday, November 24th, and at two o’clock funeral services were held at the M. E. Church in this city, conducted by Rev. J. J. Skinner. The G. A. R. Post of which he was a member had charge of the services at the grave.

RichArts Art YardOne of our favorite stops on our vacation was on our third day of our trip when we visited this amazing outdoor art installation by an old war veteran (we assume) in Centralia, Washington (check out this webpage www.roadsideamerica.com/story/11755). We were headed to an antiques shop in Centralia, but Grandma Amy (its much easier to stay in the habit of saying "Grandma Amy" if I just keep saying it) wanted to show us this place on the way. When we stopped in front of this guys house, there was a sign up saying that the yard was open to the public from 1-3. We had, fortunately, arrived just in time to see it. Richard Tracy showed up just a couple minutes after we walked in and showed us through his yard, projects he was working on, and even explained what some of the materials he used were. Richard was an interesting guy. He seemed to be going a mile a minute, carried a paint can and a paint brush in his hand the entire time. You couldnt ask him much about himself and how he got into making these things because he was so excited to show us one thing or another. We did learn though that hes been doing this stuff for a very long time now and that he even has local students come and help him with it. I need to write up a more extensive story about our visit there. I think Ill try to do that on our blog sometime soon. But, if youre ever in Washington, you should definitely make a stop here. Its worth seeing.

Ossimoro: ghiaccio bollente - (hot ice!)Il progetto prosegue fra notizie belle e brutte.
