A father and son from the Abada community watch curiously as a bulldozer clears a road through the rocky, terraced mountains towards their hometown in Northern Ethiopia. The community is building the road to allow construction vehicles to access their community to build their new imagine1day Grade 5-8 school!
Abada has a government-built Grade 1-4 school and has been a community that we have worked closely with in developing programs such as building a safe water point, delivering PTA and life skills training and implementing income generating activities like planting fruit trees and white onions. It was their commitment to these programs that made us believe that they would be a great community to build one of our first Grade 5-8 schools in!
The new school’s site has been selected, the road is almost done and we’re getting ready to break ground on Abada’s Grade 5-8 school! Visit www.imagine1day.org to read about the progress in Abada and to learn more about other projects like this one. |
